I’m finishing up a structural analysis and wondering about the eccentricity output in my csa_gm and csa_wm .csv files. Eccentricity from the csa_cord output makes sense to me, but I don’t think I’ve seen research including gray and/or white matter eccentricity. Am I correctly understanding that the eccentricity metrics in my csa_gm.csv and csa_wm.csv files are indeed calculations of gray and white matter compression, respectively? And are these of analytic utility?
Great comment @annekbaker. The eccentricity is computed after approximating the segmentation by an ellipse. It was originally developed for the spinal cord segmentation, but as SCT evolved and later offered GM segmentation, the feature remained but as you said it does not make sense analytically.

Great, that’s what I thought. Thanks for your reply!
