Problem installing SCT v6.5 on macOS 10.15 (Catalina)

Dear SCT Team,

I am experiencing some problems while trying to install SCT version 6.5 on my macOS version 10.15 system. Currently, I have version 6.0 installed. I have attached the error log for your reference.

Could you please provide guidance on how to resolve this issue?

Thank you so much for reporting this issue. We would be happy to help you get v6.5 working on macOS 10.15.

To provide context on why the installation fails with macOS 10.15, this version of macOS reached “End of Life” in September 2022:

Because of this, many of the software tools that SCT relies on have also dropped support for maOS 10.15:

This makes it difficult for us to actively test SCT for compatibility with macOS 10.15, and sometimes incompatibilities can slip through.

I would recommend upgrading from macOS 10.15 if you can. However, given that there isn’t much time between now and the upcoming SCT Course, I would be happy to manually test the installer script and create a 10.15-specific installer for you.

I have added a new installer script to the 6.5 release page: install_sct-6.5_macos_10.15.sh

Could you please try using this version of the installer instead and see if it solves your issue?

You can run the installer script by downloading it (it should go to your Downloads) folder, then opening a “Terminal” window and running the following commands:

cd Downloads
chmod +x install_sct-6.5_macos_10.15.sh
./install_sct-6.5_macos_10.15.sh -y
